How to choose a garden backpack sprayer

Garden backpack sprayers can be costly and usually are best considered if you own a relatively large property that needs regular spraying.

While most information on backpack sprayers talks about the technical specifications you really need to consider comfort above all else if you plan on doing a lot of garden spraying.

But there are many smaller and less costly spraying alternatives if your budget doesn't stretch to the larger models.

Pump style sprayers are the most common style of backpack garden sprayer and they use compression to achieve the spray. Air is manually pumped into the closed spray unit and pressure is created. This then forces the spray out of the nozzle when you pull the trigger.

As far as the amount of movement you can have the hose length will be the limiter in this regard. Tanks sizes vary so do make sure you get one big enough to do the job you want without compromising on your comfort. Average tank sizes vary from 1 - 4 gallons. But remember the bigger the capacity the heavier it will be to carry on your back.
