Backpack tank sprayers are they the best pick?

Backpack tank sprayers wouldn’t be recommended for spraying over large areas such as turf unless the sprayer has a pressure regulator to maintain an even pressure consistency.

If the sprayer uses carbon dioxide or compressed air for the spray pressure and has a pressure regulator then the backpack tank sprayer can be used to spray chemicals over larger areas.

Calibrating a backpack tank sprayer for general use requires the operator to determine the exact volume of water that the sprayer applies per 1,000 square feet at a given speed and pressure.

Let's look at an example.

The operator decides they can cover 200 square feet with 1 quart of water if they walk or move at a steady pace and has the backpack sprayer nozzle set at 30 pounds per square inch (psi). In this case it is easy to calculate the usage.5 quarts of water to cover 1,000 square feet. Of course this can be modified by increasing the pressure and moving more quickly over the area or modifying the spray nozzle
